A drag-and-drop page builder plugin for WordPress is called Elementor. This has two implications:

  • Unlike the default post/page templates that come with your WordPress theme, Elementor enables you to create customized, authentic-looking posts and pages.
  • The majority of your work does not take place in the default block editor that is included with WordPress; rather, you receive a completely distinct interface to work on your posts and pages.
  • No HTML, CSS, PHP, or coding knowledge is necessary because everything can be done using a simple user interface.
  • It functions on the front end of your website, so it instantly displays the results of your efforts in a true “what-you-see-is-what-you-get” fashion.
  • Regardless of what your current WordPress theme enables you to do, you may use it to create any content layout or page layout you can think of.

All things considered, the biggest advantage of using Elementor is that you may produce eye-catching page layouts and designs even if you’re not a professional or have no background in website development.

If you’re on a tight budget and don’t want to employ someone to help you with the site, this is very crucial.

Here is an example of my personal website after a fast Elementor makeover that was created while I was writing this Elementor review:

The DIY tenet appears to have great resonance with people. More than three million(!) WordPress websites had Elementor installed and operational as of the time of writing. That astounding figure only serves to highlight how thoroughly Elementor has swept the web.

Let’s examine some of Elementor’s most intriguing characteristics one at a time.

Features and Benefits

A few helpful elements are included with Elementor right out of the box (no pun intended):

  • The primary page-building functionality comes first. In a moment, we’ll talk about that.
  • Images, headings, buttons, carousels, counters, progress bars, and more are among the more than 90 content elements/modules available.
  • Most things work with drag-and-drop — you can take any element and move it to a new spot simply by dragging it across the screen.
  • ‘What you see is what you get’ — which means the version of the page you see in the Elementor interface is precisely what your visitors are going to see (unlike working with HTML and CSS, the old-school way).
  • The pages are all mobile-responsive and SEO-friendly.
  • You can import and modify pre-made page templates from a library. There were 300+ professional templates and 150+ free templates available at the time of writing. You can also store your own templates.
  • If you’re using Elementor Pro, you may use the Theme Builder function to change the essential components of your theme, including the header, footer, single post template, and blog archives.
  • Last but not least, there is a brand-new WooCommerce Builder module. It’s comparable to Theme Builder, except you can customize all of your default WooCommerce pages using it, including your single product page and product archive.

Elementor Pricing

It’s free.

Okay, to keep this Elementor review factual, I should probably mention there’s a Pro edition available as well. But you don’t really need it to enjoy, say, 90% of Elementor’s awesomeness — honestly!

The main plugin is available via the official WordPress repository (get it here). There are no hidden costs or signups/registrations needed. It just works!

Now, about that Pro edition. Granted, it does feature some interesting stuff that power users will enjoy:

  • 50-plus additional content elements/modules.
  • 300-plus additional page templates.
  • Theme Builder (the module where you can change the headers and footers of your current theme).
  • WooCommerce Builder (the module that allows you to rebuild your WooCommerce product pages).
  • Popup Builder (a module where you can build pop-ups and have them integrated with either an opt-in form or some special offer/discount).
  • Visual Form Builder (comes with integrations with popular marketing tools).
  • You can create Global Widgets and then reuse them throughout the site.
  • Add custom CSS to any Elementor block.
  • Deploy Elementor elements in sidebars and widgets.

This is an annual subscription, so you also get 24/7 support and updates as long as you stay subscribed.

Pre-made Templates

Although Elementor has many remarkable design features, what if you lack any design experience? Then you can utilize one of the many ready-made Elementor templates.

And I do mean many when I say there are many. In the free version, there are more than 150 templates, and in the pro edition, there are more than 300.

Additionally, you receive what is known as Elementor Kits, which are sets of templates that share a common design aesthetic and let you create a complete, uniform website.

The library contains all types of common pages for different purposes. You’ll find a nice selection of about pages, contact pages, homepages, landing pages (also for various niches, such as a hotel, restaurants and so on), portfolios, team pages, and many more.

You can import templates into your page and then freely edit them to achieve the precise outcome you want.

Finally, you may save any of your own pages as templates so that you can reuse them on other pages or share them publicly on the internet with the community.

Who Is Elementor Best Suited To?

As I’m writing this Elementor review, I have to say that I’m incredibly impressed with this tool. I’ve used every major page builder plugin available, but Elementor continues to be my go-to, trusted option.

Of all the page builders, Elementor is the most user-friendly and offers the most functionality without the cost.

In essence, it’s the ideal do-it-yourself option for folks who want to design beautiful pages on their own but lack coding, HTML, or CSS knowledge.

If you feel a little constrained by what the built-in block editor in WordPress lets you accomplish, Elementor will also be helpful. Elementor will assist you if you’re having trouble placing your material where you want it, aligning the columns, or adding photos in a particular method.

Elementor is ultimately for those who wish to create stunning web pages without having any design experience.

Elementor Pros and Cons

  • ✅ It’s free. And most new websites won’t need to upgrade to Pro.
  • ✅ It has an exceptional range of features and is easy to use.
  • ✅ Again, the range of features that are available for free is more than impressive. I feel I should include that on the list twice.
  • ✅ It allows you to build custom page layouts and designs that may not be available in your current theme and doesn’t require any HTML, CSS, or PHP skills.
  • ✅ Features such as inline text editing and real-time previews give you a true ‘what-you-see-is-what-you-get’ editing interface.
  • ✅ The ability to adjust your desktop, tablet, and mobile views separately.
  • ✅ There are very detailed settings for all of the alignments, margins, and padding values. Literally, nothing is outside your control.

  • ❌ Adding custom styling to links doesn’t always go as planned. You may be stuck with Elementor’s default typography and color settings, which may not be what you want.
  • ❌ If something is misaligned on the page, it’s often hard to locate the exact margin value that’s the culprit. For example, you may have a primary block, a column inside it, and then a content element inside that. Each of them has its own margin settings.
